| SUMMER COLLEGE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - 2007 | ACTIVITIES | |
|
|
The summer college program is more than
an academic experience. Each student will
have opportunities to participate in a
variety of co curricular and recreational
activities. Some of the more memorable
events will likely be informal and
spontaneous: students playing music
together, stargazing by the fountains,
giving a surprise birthday party
for a roommate, or dashing off to the
movies with a van load of students.
Planned activities include afternoon lectures on topics such as choosing a career or major, selecting a college and time management. |
|
Students visit local state parks
for picnics, attend the theater, go to indoor
and outdoor concerts, work out in the fitness
center, play sports, swim, hike down gorges,
and may join optional trips to the Six Flags
amusement park or a trip to the Carousel
mall in Syracuse. Students may also volunteer
in a local assisted living facility or work
during the Independence Day fireworks
extravaganza held on the Ithaca campus
each summer. All activities are optional but
students are encouraged to participate.
The residential staff plans numerous
activities for students but works very hard
to be responsive to student interests.
Student suggestions for new activities are
strongly encouraged.
